Freespace Pop-Up Community Center
Freespace is a pop-up community center focused on hacking the civic experience. It is hosted in a 14,000 sqft warehouse in S0Ma, San Francisco, envisioned and implemented entirely by you.
Freespace was originally just a one month project, but it was extended to two months thanks to successful Indiegogo campaign. They’re now open periodically (check their schedule). They host a wide array of events and projects like classes, music, art, silent discos, yoga, a free bikeshare, community engagement and field trips, and more than a few silly costumes.
Chef Nolando will prepare an enormous Valencian paella in a four foot pan on the professional range and guests will gather around with forks to eat it right out of the pan.
Prepare to chow down on shrimp, chicken, chorizo, artichokes, peas, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, onions, lemons, mussels, and all. Yum.
Please note, we aren’t sure if this is a feeding free-or-all or what, but we suggest you bring your own utensil and a donation of sorts (a dessert item or a monetary donation). It’s never nice to show up empty handed when someone’s feeding you.
