"Redevelopment" (1974) | Rebel Film Night: Incite/Insight | SoMa

“Redevelopment” (1974), 60 min, dir. California Newsreel
December 10

A complicated look at the callous redevelopment policies that cleared several working-class neighborhoods in San Francisco during the 1960s and early 1970s. Surprisingly trade union leaders took the side of developers and helped sever the transmission belts of class memory that once persisted in the South of Market, the Fillmore, and elsewhere.
