The idea came from the Hootenannies thrown by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger in NYC in the 1940s. We throw a Hootenanny every other month to call attention to the SF Folk Music Club and support the local folk/acoustic music scene.
February 13th Event: Hearth Break Hootenanny – A free show that’s part of the 11th Annual San Francisco Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Festival , The Heartbreak Hootenanny Lonely Hearts Club Band will lead you through some of the best tear jerkin’, heart tuggin,’ boo hoo hoo inducing songs ever written.
This one time sob-song symphony will feature Jeanie and Chuck Poling, Misner and Smith, Ted Silverman (from Belle Monroe and her Brewglass Boys) and a whole slew of other talented teary-eyed troubadours. Concerts by The Blushin’ Roulettes and The Skinny follow.
