SF History Night | Pacific Heights

The story of San Francisco’s original Anchor Steam Beer is also the story of San Francisco—from Gold Rush to railroads to earthquakes to Prohibition to entrepreneurship.

Dave Burkhart tells the fascinating survival story of San Francisco’s singular, iconic brew through compelling images of the brewers, brewing methods, beers, and neighborhoods that combine to make Anchor San Francisco’s—and America’s—first craft brewery.
