2016 theme: “50 Shades of Blue”
Everyone appreciates a touch of blue in their garden, and plants with blue flowers have always been prized by gardeners. But with succulents, you don’t need to wait for your plants to come into bloom to get a jolt of blue, since these botanical marvels feature an astounding array of blues in their foliage or stems. Plants such as agaves, aloes and echeverias are awash in blue hues, and they go on to dazzle the senses with pinks and purples and reds and oranges. Their forms and patterns and textures provide an almost endless smorgasbord of garden options to delight the eye, while going easy on the water needed to keep them happy.
