Local music fans are gearing up for warm weather and smooth sounds with the arrival of SFJazz Summerfest in Union Square.

SambaDá - August 23

Founded in Santa Cruz by capoeira master Papiba Godinho, the phenomenon known as SambaDá combine bloco afro (Afro-Brazilian percussion music), samba-reggae, surf-rock and California funk into an irresistible stew. This smoldering assemblage of Brazilian and American musicians brings a rollicking samba party with a funky twist.

The annual concert series is hosted by Union Square and produced by SFJAZZ, a leading non-profit jazz organization on the West Coast .
