SFMOMA Free Admission Weekend | Countdown Celebration

You’re invited to four free and festive days kicking off SFMOMA‘s expansion and their launch into off-site exhibitions and programs.

Free, but an RSVP is required for each day.

Festivities include a celebratory kickoff party, 24-hour live art variety show, all-night gallery access, Family Day, and more. Museum admission is free to all Thursday, May 30, through Sunday, June 2, 2013. 

Sunday, June 2, 2013 will be SFMOMA’s final day open; then SFMOMA will be on the go with off-site exhibitions around the Bay Area while their building is transformed. SFMOMA is slated to reopen in early 2016.

  • 10 am to 5:30 pm: The Kitchen Sisters Present The Making Of…
    Meet Bay Area makers and artists featured in The Making Of…, a community collaboration by award-winning radio producers The Kitchen Sisters (Davia Nelson and Nikki Silva) and KQED. The Making Of… is a multimedia series about what people make in the Bay Area and why, capturing the art, creativity, and innovation happening in backyards, workplaces, cultural institutions, and public spaces throughout one of the most diverse and innovative regions in the country.
  • 10:30 am to 5 pm: Gallery Talks
    Hear the behind-the-scenes voices of the museum as SFMOMA docents, staff members, and trustees share perspectives on a single artwork on view. Talks last 20 minutes.
