The Cinemagraph is a rare medium composed of a still image and looping video.

Advertisers, creators and brands alike use this format to captivate their audience and elevate their content. More eye-catching than an image, yet more subtle than a video, cinemagraphs are totally unique.

In this workshop, freelancing duo Michael Henry (@meetmichaelhenry) & Lauren Brunner (@laurenlbrunner) will showcase the process they use to create cinemagraphs for the brands they’ve worked with (Red Bull, Hint Water, Fernet Branca, Deep Eddy). They’ll cover preparation, shooting, editing and the gear you need to create your very own “living photo.”

About Michael & Lauren

Michael and Lauren are San Francisco based professionals and weekend freelancers. They’ve spent the past four years creating dozens of cinemagraphs for startups and brands. In the process they’ve learned to adapt the format for various use cases: paid ad creative, product shots, lifestyle branding and beyond. Weekdays you’ll find Michael acquiring content at GoPro, maintaining the brand’s UGC program, GoPro Awards. Meanwhile, Lauren helps startups grow via paid social advertising at agency, Bamboo. As far as the weekend goes, they’re usually hanging out in the Sunset district, paddleboarding the Bay, or frying up their “world-famous” habanero omelettes.
