Event Details

We invite you to join us for the closing reception of “Within Silence.” In celebration of the artist and her work, we will be hosting an artist talk and will be premiering her soft cover book featuring the collection in her solo exhibition. Refreshments will be served.

Alicia N. Ponzio (b.1974) is a figurative sculptress working in bronze and plaster. She attended the Florence Academy of Art (FAA) sculpture program, graduating in 2008. After graduating, she remained in Italy as an instructor at the FAA for 3 more years. In 2011, Alicia and her partner returned to the United States and established their studio in San Francisco, where she continues to develop her work and offer classes.

Alicia works in water based clay either from life, or from her imagination. She then uses a plaster casting method to transform the piece from clay to plaster. From there, the piece may be finished in plaster, or cast in bronze depending on her vision for the composition. The pieces range in scale and scope from small fragments to full figure, to multi-figure composition. There are several wall mounted, plaster pieces included in the show, as well as Alicia’s most recent large scale bronze, “In a Still Field”, which is shown here for the first time.

Recently, Alicia’s work has been awarded honors by several organizations including the Portrait Society of America, the California Art Club, The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the Art Renewal Center. Her work is represented by the Haynes Galleries in Nashville, TN, and can be found in private collections throughout North America and Europe. She teaches workshops for clients including Pixar Studios and The University of Calgary as well as weekly classes at JHess Studios in San Francisco.

Gallery hours are Friday – Sunday 12 – 6pm or by appointment. To make an appointment at the gallery please contact our gallery manager Lauren Szabo at info@arteverissima.com
