Join the Urban Peace Movement for their annual youth summit for ages 16-24 at Impact Hub Oakland for speakers, workshops, forums and a cultural showcase at the end including: DetermiNation Hip Hop Artists, Wolf Hawk Jaguar, Mix’d Ingrdnts and Ernest Olmos (Native Anahuaka Music of Mexico and Beyond w/ Gerardo Marin) on Saturday, May 24, 2014.

The goal of the summit is to mobilize over 150 youth to participate in a full day of activities including guest speakers, interactive workshops, media presentations, music performances, cultural activities, healing sessions, free healthy food, community networking and much more.

2014 Schedule

10:30 – 11 am:  Registration / Breakfast

11:00 – 11:30 am: Welcome & Opening
11:30 – 12:30 pm: All-Star Young Leaders Panel
12:30 – 1:15 pm: Lunch Break
1:30 – 2:45 pm: Workshop Session 1

  • Theater of the Oppressed: Using Art & Expression for Social Change (BAY-Peace)
  • Sexism & Hip Hop (Jazz Hudson)
  • It Ain’t What it Looks Like: Manhood & Healthy Masculinity (Darrick Smith)
3:00 – 4:15 pm: Workshop Session 2
  • Fatherhood (DetermiNation)
  • Inner Power Boost for Youth Community Workers (Gera Marin of Rooted in Community National Youth MVMNT)
  • Changing the Odds for Boys & Men of Color (Calvin Williams)
  • Young Women and the Movement for Boys & Men of Color (Jamila Brooks)
4:30 – 6:00 pm: Closing Cultural Showcase
