2014 “Sing Up the Sun” Solstice Sing-Along | Tilden Park
Tilden Park | 2501 Grizzly Peak Blvd, Oakland, CA 94563
Sing in the East Bay hills to greet the sun on solstice morning. Wear layers and bring drums, shakers, tambourines, flutes, tubas, etc., and maybe a thermos of your favorite hot beverage. If you have a favorite sun-song, bring lyrics to share; they usually do a spiral dance just after dawn.
Gather at the parking lot at Inspiration Point in Tilden Park at about 6:40 am; allow about 10 minutes to walk or roll to the site.
At the west end of parking area, go around the gate and up the paved road beyond it, marked as Nimitz Way, which is a mild uphill grade, wheelchair/stroller accessible. You’ll see folks on a grassy clearing on your right (could be muddy and wet), with a beautiful view of the horizon to the east (if it’s clear, which could happen).
Steady rain cancels. In fog or misty rain, they’ll be there.
