Spreading Rolligion: Free Skate Lessons | The Church of 8 Wheels

It is the mission of the Church of 8 Wheels to spread the joy of skating throughout the land. If you have not yet discovered the magic roller skating can bring, this day is for you.

The Church of 8 Wheels will offer two free rollerskating teaching sessions: on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 1-2 pm and again from 2-3 pm. Attendees must be at least 12 years old. The lesson is free if you have your own skates. Skate rentals are $5.

During these 60 minute courses, you will become familiar with the different kinds of skates, wheels, bearings, pads and related equipment. You will learn proper skating form, balance, stopping, and turning. They will also take you through the slalom course to teach you to gain confidence and learn to maneuver. The staff are all certified skate instructors with the Skate Instructors Association and are committed to helping spread rolligion through teaching skating.

You thought you would never be able to skate? These lessons will be presented by D. Miles Jr, San Franciso’s “GodFather of Skate.” He has been teaching skating in San Francisco for over 35 years and is the driving force behind the vibrant San Francisco rollerskating scene. There is no one better to help you get your skate groove on, so come on out and let them help get you rollin’.

The doors open at 12:30 pm. First lesson starts promptly at 1 pm. If you come late to the first lesson, you can come in, sign the release form and get skates, but you must wait until the the second class at 2 pm.
