String Chamber Music: Agave Baroque | The Presidio

In the intimate atmosphere of a house concert, experience jazz, contemporary, and classical music, and enjoy opportunities to converse with performers and each other. Offered in partnership with SFFCM, leading advocates for Bay Area musicians and producers of the dynamic SFMusic Day.

Agave Baroque is “an energized, free-spirited group” (Early Music America magazine) specializing in string chamber music of the seventeenth century. Agave has received numerous awards and accolades, gaining local and national attention for its “rapturous music,” “brilliant… profound playing” (EMA Magazine), and growing discography.

For this program, Agave will present Musica Ruidosa, raucous dances and refined sonatas of baroque Spain and its territories. The vast Spanish empire of the sixteenth through eighteenth centuries extended into Italy, Mexico, and South America where it freely exchanged a rich variety of music. Pieces by Santa Cruz, Falconieri, Jerusalem, De Murcia, Blasco, and others reveal the unique Spanish flavor of this intriguing repertoire.

Registered guests will be offered priority admission that will be honored until 15 minutes before the start of the event.
