Event Details

Gardeners of today take for granted the many varieties of geraniums, marigolds, roses and other beloved flowers for their gardens. The breeders for these plants once had prosperous businesses and were important for their communities. They were often cranky and quirky, too. Drawing from libraries, archives and the recollection of family members, horticultural historian Judith M. Taylor traces the lives of prominent flower cultivators and the changing tastes of their times in her new book Visions of Loveliness. Join us for her talk and discussion. A book sale, by Readers Books, follows the event.
