Sunday Assembly: Communty Sing & Meetup | Berkeley

Sunday Assembly is a non-religious congregation that celebrates life. They’ve got the best parts of a church – community, singing, and acts of service – without any of the religious dogma.

They typically meet on the third Sunday of the month to sing, think, listen, laugh, and build community together. They feature speakers from the local science and humanities communities, and they typically offer a way to donate to a local organization.

The Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation started in 2012 by two comedians and performers in England. It is a growing global network of people with the motto to “Live Better. Help Often. Wonder More.”

Our speaker this month is Arthur Rodgers, a seismologist who works at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the UC Berkeley Seismology Lab.  He will be speaking about “A Possible Future Damaging Earthquake on the Hayward Fault“.  He will describe how modern computational methods calculate the shaking that could occur and how those calculations can predict the likely response of buildings in the East Bay.
