Event Details

Occupy Super Bowl 50 are calling all willing and able citizens of the world to come to Santa Clara on February 7, 2016 to protest for the People’s Movements. No matter how many people come, their goal is to Unite the Movements, and if they can get enough people, to create a huge circle of people around Levi’s Stadium where the Super Bowl will be taking place and when the world will be watching.

What will this look like?

They are planning to get 10,000 people from all walks of life including families and children to come out and create this circle of peace around the Super Bowl which people and attendees can easily pass through, but is still visible from the blimp cameras.

The model would be 3-5 people thick with a gap of 10 feet for every 20 feet of people. Everyone can participate and will be organized by birth date, with January 1st / December 31st pointing north, and then each 30* of the circle will be one month. 90* and April birthdays will face east, 180* and July will face south. They will work with their own security, as well as the stadium security to remove or arrest anyone who acts up or disturbs the peaceful public art and protest in any way.

They will be expanding their presence beyond the limited “Free Speech Zone” that has already been created which will become part of the circle, therefore there is a chance of getting arrested. However,  it isn’t in the best interest of the stadium to stop the protest as that would create a much bigger disturbance.

They will gather by randomly walking around, letting people know about the protest, undetectable from the masses, about 1-2 hours before kickoff. Then everyone, at a specific time, will simultaneously and spontaneously form the circle just like street art or Mob Art Events. The specific time will be announced, but it will be after a majority of the people have already entered the stadium, and will happen sometime before kickoff and one hour prior. If you don’t hear a different time, assume about 20 minutes before kickoff, as that will ensure that they don’t impede the masses of people trying to get in the stadium.

Their goal is to keep the circle united for the entire game, and to collaboratively work together during the game to make the world a better place (bring paper, tablets, and smart phones, as they will all be connected via wi-fi and conference calls to make collective decisions. The circle will last about 2 hours, and they will break as soon as the game is over, if not before, to make sure there is no impediment to people leaving the stadium and getting out.

Schedule/Agenda:

  • 2 hours before Kickoff: Gather at Official “Free Speech Area” to pick up flyers and info
  • 1-2 hours before Kickoff: Walk around and do outreach near the area where you will get in the circle, but don’t encircle yet, look inconspicuous so no one thinks you are there except to tailgate.
  • At about 20 minutes before Kickoff (final time to be announced, they want at least 1/2 the people inside), spontaneously get aligned in the circle. (Remember to leave 10 foot gaps every 20 feet)
  • Approximately 20 minutes before Kickoff to Kickoff: Introductions – form groups and introduce each other
  • Kickoff to end of 1st Quarter: Session Set Up: Have your group appoint a facilitator, note taker, representative, and brainstorm and prioritize, or agree on the topics you want to talk about.
  • Meditation Break exactly between 1st and 2nd Quarter: Everybody stand up, face the stadium, close the gaps in the circle, and hum, projecting love and a transformed work with peace and balance that works for everyone.
  • Beginning of 2nd Quarter to Half Time: Topic Discussion 1
  • Beginning of Half Time to End Of Half Time: Topic Discussion 2
  • Beginning of 3rd Quarter to End: Topic Discussion 3
  • Meditation Break exactly between 3rd and 4th Quarter: Everybody stand up, face the stadium, close the gaps in the circle, and hum, projecting love and a transformed work with peace and balance that works for everyone.
  • 4th Quarter: Wrap Up and Next Steps – Check Out
  • Overtime: If there is Overtime, those who want to stay can, and continue discussing.

They want this event to be family friendly, friendly to elderly and experienced people, and friendly for children and youth. Everyone who attends will be subject to search. They will be on private land, and the security will be as tight as you can imagine with bomb sniffing dogs, as well as all kinds of other security and police. Once you are formed in the circle, cooperate fully with security and police, including your willingness to be searched and patted down like all other attendees of the Super Bowl who enter the stadium. Do NOT bring any illegal or dangerous substances or weapons; you will not be allowed to participate, and you may be arrested. They will follow all rules and regulations, as if they are “entering” the stadium.

If there is not enough people to have a real circle at the time they all come together, simply head over to the “Free Speech Area,” and they will unite and protest there as well as.
