Temescal Street Cinema: Outdoor Films & Free Popcorn | OaklandThe Temescal Street Cinema homegrown outdoor film series is back for 2012 showing films on the side of the Bank of the West Building in Oakland, with live music, films and free popcorn.

Rather than showing boring major blockbusters, these are strange and interesting films by Bay Area artists and filmmakers that you’re unlikely to see anywhere else.

The picaresque chronicle of a 16-year search for the source of a ubiquitous rail graffiti–a simple sketch of a blank-staring character with an infinity-shaped hat and the scrawled moniker, “Bozo Texino”–a drawing seen on railcars for over 80 years.

JULY 12
The Welcome: A Healing Journey for War Veterans and Their Families (Kim Shelton, Bill McMillan)
At a 5-day healing retreat for veterans, “examples of unflinching honesty, courage and love lift us up, inspiring all of us once again to feel our common humanity, always the first casualty of war.”

Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone (Lev Anderson & Chris Metzler)
Everyday Sunshine follows Punk/Funk band Fishbone’s lead singer Angelo Moore and bassist Norwood Fisher as they struggle to keep the band rolling.
