Umami Mart Lease-Signing Celebration | Old Oakland

From online to pop-up to permanent, Umami Mart has signed their lease and they’re celebrating all their Japanese kitchenware glory with a champagne toast on March 19, 2013 in their location in Old Oakland.

Free, but RSVP is required.

To kick off this two-year commitment, they want to say thanks to the community and supporters who have made this lease-signing possible. They will have a champagne toast at 6:30pm, which is probably complimentary, but bring a few bucks just in case.

Who knew that Oakland was starved for a shop that specialized in Japanese kitchen and barware? Six months ago, Popuphood sat down with Yoko and Kayoko and talked about their business. They explained that their online Japanese kitchen and barware website had international contributors sharing insights into Japanese culture and lifestyle. We liked the idea of linking this global community to a flagship shop in Old Oakland. They were a solid and delightful team with great products, a growth strategy, and an amazing community of people online and off to assist them to realize their vision. We are so so happy to know these women and that they are going to be a permanent addition to Popuphood in Old Oakland.
