Lierre Keith, the author of the controversial book, The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability, examines the destructive history of agriculture and maintains that, in order to save the planet, food must come from within living communities. She champions eating locally and sustainably and encourages those with the resources to grow their own food. She further examines the moral issues from eating—or not eating—animals.
Through her deeply personal narrative of someone who practiced veganism for 20 years, she discusses alternatives to industrial farming and reveals the risks of a vegan diet.
