Event Details

Take an intimate film journey with Academy Award®-nominated and Emmy Award®-winner David Vassar through some of the greatest national parks, while learning about his lifetime of environmental filmmaking. David introduces each clip with a story, sharing memories of behind-the-camera “moments,” and places into context the uniqueness of each park. His films aim to strengthen the bond between people and nature, inspiring people to become advocates for conservation.

At the age of 19, David Vassar made his first film in Yosemite. It was the beginning of a journey that continues to this day; one that would take him to the nation’s most magnificent parks where he has written, directed, and produced more than a dozen films. David is a visionary documentarian who has continually identified environmental and sustainability issues in his films – years, sometime decades, ahead of the mainstream media. He continues to lead the conversation on the pressing environmental issues of our time in the year of the National Park Centennial and beyond.
