Event Details

“Museum of the Hidden City” by Michael Epstein is a ‘live’ documentary about San Francisco’s struggles for equitable housing policies amidst a whirlwind downtown revitalization.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Acted scenes are mixed with documentary film recounting the journey of Yesenia Ramirez, the matriarch of a young immigrant family that went from homelessness to living in a luxury apartment in the Mid-Market neighborhood after she won the housing lottery. Yesenia goes through a herculean effort to qualify and get into the luxury building only to find even bigger challenges integrating into the building and the trendy neighborhood around it.

Hidden City reveals the sometimes bizarre ways inclusionary housing is shaping our public and private spaces, ballot issues, and society overall.
