The Warriors (1979) | Underground Film Night: Obscure Super 8 & 16mm Movies | Berkeley

The Warriors (1979)

In a future, dystopian New York City, turf gangs and cops rule the streets. When one gang leader tries to bring all gangs together against the cops, Coney Island’s The Warriors are framed for murder and the entire city turns on them.

Pauline Kael of The New Yorker wrote, “The Warriors is a real moviemaker’s movie: it has in visual terms the kind of impact that ‘Rock Around the Clock’ did behind the titles of Blackboard Jungle. The Warriors is like visual rock”.

Director: Walter Hill
Writers: Sol Yurick (novel), David Shaber (screenplay)
Stars: Michael Beck, James Remar and Dorsey Wright

Super 8/Sound
