Event Details

Come watch competitive rowers duke it out on Lake Merced in this season’s third regatta on February 22, 2020.

You can see the action all weekend from the Lake Merced Boathouse, which is on Parks & Rec property, so there’s no charge at all. Feel free to put a “charge” into your cheers though. MUNI’s #18 bus goes down there too, so it’s easy to access.

Rowing has been described as the “ultimate team sport” because each rower’s individual effort, no matter how great, must harmonize with that of every other rower to create the smooth, synchronous flow of a winning boat.

About The Club: Since 1980, the Pacific Rowing Club has been a place for Bay Area high schoolers (girls and boys) to learn about competitive teamwork. Members have been recruited to rowing teams at Cal, USC, Yale, Columbia, Duke, Stanford and many more. This is all to say it’s pretty prestigious.

Remember the gliding crafts of the twins in The Social Network? LucasFilm actually recorded rowing sounds used in the movie on Lake Merced, using the Pacific Rowing Club’s boats and crews.

Please note, the date and time is accurate for 2020, but the event details are from 2019. We expect the details to be the same this year.
