Wheel of Karaoke West: Standup Showcase & Karaoke Contest | Oakland

Get ready to LOL as local comedy champions-of-the-people Brandon Garner and Samantha Gilweit curate a lineup of professional comedians to create a comedy-meets-music battle featuring karaoke, challenges, and a roast.

Every first Thursday of the month, Wheel of Karaoke West brings you a completely new panel of comedians to keep things fresh and hilarious at the Spice Monkey Restaurant in downtown Oakland.

Every week, a new lineup of comedians form a panel of Pretty-Mean-But-Also-Kind-Of-Supportive Judges. Each Judge takes a turn to sing karaoke with a random challenge determined by a “Wheel of Fate”, which will force the singers to take on dares ranging from “singing without lyrics” to “calling the would-be pop-star’s parents on speaker-phone”. The final round of the show features the two best singers singing against each other while wearing costumes and selecting audience members to be their backup dancers to create a final, grand spectacle to behold.

After all is said and sung, the comedy panel calls forth their weapons of blunt honesty and sardonic wit to ridicule each other until kingdom come, while the audience grabs a drink from the bar and sits back.
