Event Details

Join Independent Lens and KQED for an Indie Lens Pop-Up screening of “T-Rex: Her Fight for Gold” as the Opening Night of the Women Sports Film Festival on Thursday July 28 at 6:30 pm at the New Parkway.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Seventeen-year-old boxer Claressa “T-Rex” Shields rose from the streets of Flint, Michigan to the gold medal podium at London 2012, the first time women were allowed to box in the Olympics. But as you see in this coming-of-age story “T-Rex: Her Fight For Gold,” life outside the ring may be an even tougher fight.

You will be joined after the film by young female boxers from the East Oakland Boxing Association, who will share their own stories and lead the audience through an interactive boxing demo.
