At a time when most female singer-songwriters perform as alter egos, Eleanor Friedberger is simply, refreshingly herself. And that’s just the way her fans like it. Having spent the last decade fronting the indie-rock institution The Fiery Furnaces (currently on hiatus) with her brother Matthew, in 2011 she emerged as a formidable solo artist with Last Summer, a thoughtfully crafted tale of memory and place couched in the organic pop of her ’70s idols. Instantly, Friedberger established herself as a modern-day heir to the tradition of Donovan, Todd Rundgren, Ronnie Lane, and their ilk: Warm, nuanced, timeless songs. No gimmicks necessary.

Hazel English is a singer-songwriter from Australia. She currently resides in Oakland where she met producer Jackson Phillips in early 2015 and they began recording songs together. Her sound has been described as by Stereogum as “soft, hazy lo-fi glow and gently jangly guitar.”

In October 2014, a whole new sound emerged from the troubadour’s ever-spinning reels with ‘Adventure:Us‘, which The Portland Mercury calls “one of the best albums released last year… far-reaching pop, psychedelic, and classic-rock realms with humor and irreverence—both calling cards of Luke Sweeney’s songwriting.” BabySue blog named it a Top Pick, stating “Sweeney really seems to be following his own muse here. And, in doing so, manages to come up with some mighty entertaining tracks that are credible and real… this is one of those that will still sound great years from now.”
