Event Details

Can you imagine being in charge of sustaining, managing, and building on the legacy of major players in rock and roll history? At this event, SFAC Galleries Director Meg Shiffler will introduce you to two people whose life’s work it is to do just that: photographer and owner of Jim Marshall Photography LLC Amelia Davis and Grateful Dead historian/archivist and Director of the Center for Counterculture Studies Nicholas Meriwether.

At the center of the discussion is the legendary photographer Jim Marshall and his relationship to influential Bay Area-based bands who shaped the counterculture movement during the Summer of Love.

Hear behind-the-scenes stories about Marshall and bands like the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, and Quicksilver Messenger Service, while also learning about the task of managing culturally significant archives.

Free but an RSVP is required.
