Cancelled – YBCA:ConVerge Monthly Art Gathering | SoMa

Please Note: The specific ConVerge series is no longer taking place at the YBCA, but we encourage you to still come out to the Yerba Buena district every 3rd Thursday for special events at YBCA and neighboring museums.

The YBCA:ConVerge series is a free monthly public gathering featuring creative and generative social art practices.

Community and innovative multi- and inter-disciplinary arts practices come together in the YBCA’s Grand Lobby and Room for Big Ideas with art, live music and curated performances in an interactive, experimental format. Cocktails are available for purchase.

This month’s ConVerge presents a variety of workshops and interactive installations that guide you through a range of hands-on experiences with artists and arts organizations featured in the Bay Area Now 7 exhibition.

Grand Lobby & Screening Room: San Francisco’s internationally acclaimed science and technology dance company Capacitor hosts a special event exploring the question: “What does the act of creativity look like?” This interactive program takes place just before Capacitor’s world premiere at YBCA, Synaptic Motion, a multi-sensory experience informed by brain scans taken at UCSF to capture the mind during the act of choreography.

In the Youth Arts Lounge: A reading of inmates’ writings by former inmates, current program participants, their teacher Zoe Mullery, and perhaps a guest reader.

In the Galleries: Come hear readings of their work from Publication Studio writers Kevin Killian and more.

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
