Please Note: The specific ConVerge series is no longer taking place at the YBCA, but we encourage you to still come out to the Yerba Buena district every 3rd Thursday for special events at YBCA and neighboring museums.

The YBCA:ConVerge series is a free monthly public gathering featuring creative and generative social art practices.

Community and innovative multi- and inter-disciplinary arts practices come together in the YBCA’s Grand Lobby and Room for Big Ideas with art, live music and curated performances in an interactive, experimental format. Cocktails are available for purchase.

Gallery Guide Rhonda Pagnozzi will lead a 30-minute tour of Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art. Meet at the exhibition entrance.

6 PM Holding Court, Downstairs Galleries
SFMOMA Associate Curator of Performance and Film Frank Smigiel will activate Theaster Gates’s piece, Holding Court in conversation with Purnell.

7 PM Proximity, Local Motion, and Gross Motor Movement: A Work in Non-Progress, Grand Lobby
Brontez Purnell and collaborators present a new, one night only performance that Purnell describes as “a dance party written within the lines of a conversation pleasantly going nowhere in particular.”
