Yerba Buena Gardens Festival | SF
Between May and October in 2013, the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival presents nearly 100 free programs on three outdoor stages in Yerba Buena Gardens.
Admission is free and entertainment includes music, theater, dance, cultural events, educational and children’s programs.
Direct from the City of Angels, La Santa Cecilia’s colorful, passionate music is a terrific modern day hybrid of Latin, rock, and world music. Lead singer Marisol Hernandez channels legendary Mexican singers Lola Beltrán and Lucha Villa, while the band draws from cumbia, bossa nova, rumba, bolero, tango, and jazz, to create a soulful sound that leaves fans and new listeners mesmerized.
Opening for them will be Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band, who play a rich melange of mestizo and mulatto styles in celebration of the diverse origins of their Mexican-American musical heritage. Based in San Francisco, this award-winning band transmits the joy inherent in this música and the pleasure they feel making it.
