SF’s New 2023 Heart Sculptures On View at the Ferry Building
Hosted by the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, Hearts in San Francisco 2023 will open this Wednesday, January 25, at the San Francisco Ferry Building. The free public display of heart sculptures created by Bay Area artists in support of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) will run through February 28.
The display includes six large heart sculptures, eight tabletop heart sculptures, and nine mini heart sculptures. The opening of the Ferry Building display continues the 2023 Hearts in San Francisco season of events. Through a partnership between SFGHF and Neiman Marcus, 10 additional mini hearts commemorating the 150th anniversary of ZSFG are on display at Neiman Marcus San Francisco until February 8.
On February 9, SFGHF will host two opportunities for the community to celebrate and support Zuckerberg San Francisco General as it marks its 150th anniversary. SFGHF’s annual Hearts in SF gala will take place that evening from 5:00-8:00 pm at San Francisco City Hall, celebrating the past, present, and future of ZSFG. At 8:00 pm, the gala will be followed by the return of SFGHF’s Hearts After Dark celebration, including a special performance by Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys, along with immersive art, dancing, specialty cocktails, and late-night treats.
The 10 heart sculptures commemorating ZSFG’s 150th anniversary, including an additional large heart sculpture by 2023 featured artist Sirron Norris, will be on display for both events at San Francisco City Hall, each raising vital funds to support Zuckerberg San Francisco General.

Hearts in San Francisco is one of the most widely recognized public art projects around the world. Since the project’s inception in 2004, San Francisco Bay Area artists have created more than 500 hearts that have gone on display all across the city of San Francisco and beyond, from Union Square to the lobbies and conference rooms of corporate supporters throughout the state, including Bank of America, Genentech, Intel, Kaiser, Twitter, and Wells Fargo. Each Heart is a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art and celebrates the diversity of San Francisco through designs made of acrylic paints, mosaic art, mixed media, and more.
