SF’s Pier 80 Gets Brand New “Portola” Music Festival w/ Flume, The Chemical Brothers, M.I.A.
San Francisco has a brand new music festival. Portola will be taking over Pier 80 for the two-day festival on September 24-25, 2022.
Flume headlines on Saturday with The Chemical Brothers headlining Sunday. Additional performers include Fatboy Slim,
M.I.A., Jungle, Toro y Moi, James Blake, Kaytranada, Jamie XX, Charli XCX, Four Tet + Floating Points, and many more.
Update – M.I.A. has unfortunately canceled, with a replacement announcement supposedly coming soon.
The festival’s name ‘Portola’ pays homage to the Portola Festival of 1909, which was a grand celebration to welcome San Francisco back after the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906, which signaled The City was back open again and ready for visitors. This festival aims to honor its namesake heritage and signals once again SF is back.
Pier 80, a 60-acre site located at 401 Cesar Chavez, is San Francisco’s largest cargo terminal and the City’s only pier that can support the direct unloading of materials from ships to railroad cars.
3 DAYS AWAY and we’re pleased to welcome @0PN to our Ship Tent lineup on Sunday. And those of you who couldn’t bear choosing between @ToroyMoi and @ChemBros, fear not because Toro Y Moi is now playing the Pier Stage pic.twitter.com/JsPy5oe9aa
