The festival’s name ‘Portola’ pays homage to the Portola Festival of 1909, which was a grand celebration to welcome San Francisco back after the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906, which signaled The City was back open again and ready for visitors. This festival aims to honor its namesake heritage and signals once again SF is back.

Pier 80, a 60-acre site located at 401 Cesar Chavez, is San Francisco’s largest cargo terminal and the City’s only pier that can support the direct unloading of materials from ships to railroad cars.
