With 1 in 25 children in California having no home to call their own ReloShare is launching No Room to Dream, a powerful public installation series debuting on World Homelessness Day (October 10) at Oakland City Hall at the “Center of the Universe” steps from 12 PM – 2:30 PM.
Did you know that in California alone, there are enough unhoused children to fill Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara (68,500 seats)? For many, “bedtime” means the backseat of a car, borrowed mattress, or a friend’s couch. Each reimagined “bedroom” confronts viewers with the reality that. The installations will feature firsthand stories from survivors of childhood homelessness, amplifying voices too often left unheard. Alongside these stories, the public will be invited to take action and help break the cycle.
New data from ReloShare, the world’s first marketplace for social services, reveals that 64% of Americans are delaying having children because they fear being unable to afford stable housing. This growing crisis, fueled by soaring rents, stagnant wages, and a shortage of affordable housing, leaves tens of thousands of California children invisible each night.
