Old Mint | 88 Fifth Street, San Francisco, CA

Paul V. Turner, an Old Mint docent, is not a docent in the usual vein. He approaches the Mint from his perspective as an architectural historian and a man whose research has uncovered fascinating stories linked to the structure.

As a former professor of the history of architecture at Stanford, who retired as the Phyllis Wattis professor emeritus of art, his presentation at the January program will provide a unique look at the Old Mint, stressing its architectural significance, one of the nation’s finest examples of the classical revival style.
