Event Details

If you’re looking for an intimate (and free!) site performance event in the City’s Westside, come check out Sacred City | pearl ubungen’s premiere of Winter in America: “State of Emergency.” As a fourth generation Pilipina American, born and raised in San Francisco and resident of the Richmond District, choreographer/cultural activist pearl ubungen reflects on anti-Asian hate crimes, the pandemic, gentrification, police use of excessive force, and the ongoing crisis of houselessness, culminating in San Francisco’s “State of Emergency.”

Winter in America utilizes the 4 Star theater location to frame the narrative of the movie that is San Francisco today. It features images of the City by Ken Miller and live accompaniment by percussionist Randy Odell.
