The annual Altered Barbie Exhibition is a creative re-use art show where people transform these icons into not-so-everyday art reflecting our current society.
This quirky art show is back after a two year absence. The 2017 theme is Super Heroine & Hero so that the artistic people of San Francisco can make it all great again.

FREE – Donations are acceptedPlease note certain workshops are $25, but art receptions and events are typically free with donations requested to support the show.

- Show Opening – September 9, 2017
- Opening Artist Reception Party – Saturday, September 16, 2017 (7-10 pm): Entertainment, art, music, drink, bites, and meet the artists. Ethel Merman Experience will be doing a 30-minute piece on opening night along with Feather Pistol having fun with a pole, the Magi Bombs and SpacEKrafT DJs.
- Poetry Night – Thursday, September 21, 2017 (7:30-9:30 pm): Led by Sean Labrador Y Manzano Joanna Anabo, Lark Omura, Anne Cormia, Trinidad Escobar, Kar A. Johnson, Loria Mendoza, Simone Felton, Avren Keating, Nicole Henares, and more.
- Closing Artist Reception – Saturday, October 7, 2017 (7-10 pm)
The exhibit is open from September 9th to October 7th at Back to the Picture (934 Valencia) – Mon-Sat: 1 to 6 pm and Sundays: noon to 5 pm
