“Bad Asians” Candid Storytelling Night | SF

Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 8.43.20 PMBad Asians will be featuring local raconteurs, performers, and comedians who will be telling a story based on a theme of the month. Featured will be Asians/Asian Americans with differing backgrounds and upbringings, but somehow share some very specific commonalities due to their cultural lineage.

The series will take place on the first Sunday of the month, in the basement of Lost Weekend Video in San Francisco.

After each performance, the storyteller will be interview by the host about their experience of being Asian in America and what makes them a “Bad Asian”. The show will be a frank, candid, and comedic expression and evaluation of the Asian identity.

Free when you mention Funcheap at the door. Otherwise, $5 early-bird and $10 day-of tickets are required.

Bad Asian is colloquial term used by myself and those of my ilk to playfully and/or condescendingly describe instances where an Asian person fails to live up to preconceived notions of what it means to be Asian. Not being a doctor/lawyer/engineer – bad Asian. Not grabbing a stack of napkins for your glove compartment – bad Asian. Eating vegan tofurkey, but being squeamish at the idea of eating balut – very bad Asian.

Please Note: We have not confirmed that “Bad Asians” Candid Storytelling Night is taking place on Apr.2.
