Friday Nights at the de Young is a free after-hour “happening” that changes every week but typically includes a mix of live music, poetry, films, dance and talks. Season Eight is every Friday night from March 30 – November 23, 2012.
Walk in and experience all public programs for free. But to view the permanent collection or special exhibitions, admission tickets are required.

Cultural Encounters: Friday Nights at the de Young presents live music by The Fashion Slaves, the 6th Annual Discarded to Divine showcase presented in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco, special lecture by Film Critic Jan Wahl and more.

- Join our museum artists at that hands on art making table fun for all ages.
- The Discarded to Divine showcase is a combination of professional and aspiring designers who transform discarded, donated clothing into one-of-a-kind couture creations and exquisite home décor.
- KRON’S Film Critic Jan Wahl presents “From Gibbons to Givenchy to Gaultier: Design and Fashion in Film” This illustrated lecture takes us on a journey through some of Jan’s favorite set designs, art direction and fashion. She will illuminate and celebrate the impact Hollywood has had on style, clothes, jewelry and interior design.
