The Oakland Underground Film Festival in partnership with Jack London Square presents an exciting spring and summer series of films, performances, and art installations. Join us in the amazing 33,000 square-foot waterfront Pavilion Theater (98 Broadway, Jack London Square) to enjoy some of the very best local filmmakers, projection and installation artists, musicians, and surprise guest speakers.

8pm – Sonic Youth: Sleeping Nights Awake (84 mins)
Through confessions from the band and the many people that ensure the tour’s success behind-the-scenes, SLEEPING NIGHTS AWAKE provides an intimate exploration into the Sonic Youth machine–one that illuminates the power of innovation and accessibility while giving new and old fans alike a cinematic all-access pass.

9:30p – About a Son (96 mins)
An intimate and moving meditation on the late musician and artist Kurt Cobain, based on more than 25 hours of previously unheard audiotaped interviews conducted with Cobain by noted music journalist Michael Azerrad for his book “Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana.
