2019 Architecture & the City Festival | SF
The 16th annual month-long celebration features behind the scenes and walking tours, films, exhibitions, lectures and more that address varying aspects of the design and planning process.
This years festival theme, “We the City”, aims to explore how cultural diversity and connectivity inspire and inform the built environment. From the Dogpatch to the Outer Sunset — San Francisco is a unique, diverse, and multi-generational mosaic.
This interactive virtual reality workshop will provide a hands-on preview of the new 3D virtual experience platform, code-named Project Sansar, being developed by Linden Lab, the makers of the popular virtual world Second Life. This new platform will enable people to virtually walk through 3D architectural creations, naturally socialize within them, and experience the environments as if they were really there. Participants will learn how virtual reality can be used by architects and designers in related fields to illustrate and share their creations, work collaboratively with project teams, provide shared pre-visualizations of unbuilt environments, and more. Play and collaboration are highly encouraged.
