Event Details

Come see the great silent classic Ben-Hur (1925, MGM, part color) on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

Francis X. Bushman (who got his movie start at the Chicago Essanay studio) as Messala, and Ramon Novarro, as Judah Ben-Hur, lead the cast of stars in this epic that rivals the 1959 remake, especially in the chariot race.

The film was directed by Fred Niblo and later selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

There will be no shorts for this program due to its length. There will be an intermission and snacks and drinks are available for purchase.
