No fireworks display over Jack London Square again for 2011, but the city is still hosting a fun daytime event for families with a petting zoo, art activities for the kids, jump houses and bike and kayak rentals. Also enjoy performances by stilt walkers, magicians, clowns, and acrobats, as well as live music from the Bic Cat Tolefree Band and Eric Bolvin. Plus lots of food and drinks.
Family Activities starting at 11 a.m.
•Petting zoo – back by popular demand
• Circus Spire Youth Troupe from the Kinetic Arts Center — including juggling, face painting, stilt walking and much more
• Hoola Hoop Dancing
• Children’s Art – led by Oakland’s own MOCHA
• Gigantic Bounce Houses and a large slide
• The Amazing “Bubble Man” – Louis Pearl performing
• Music by Jazz artist Eric Bolvin and Blues/R&B from Bic Cat Tolefree
• All JLS restaurants will be open for meals
• Bicycle and Kayak Rentals & Bike Valet available
• Baseball team Oakland Athletics table with a bean bag toss game
