Event Details

The Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology invites you to an evening at the beautiful Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, where they will bravely delve into an explicit conversation about three taboo topics: death, sex, and money.

While contemporary analytic thinking encourages clinicians to consider certain taboos, such as sex, death and money, many clinicians still find themselves alone in their rumination and reverie with this threesome. How explicit and graphic are these thoughts? How does the patient’s own description or reaction to death, sex or money trigger our own?

In this panel discussion, three clinicians will use their experience on each topic to expand upon the literature and answer the clinical and existential questions that can preoccupy the minds of the analyst and analysand. Can the act of speaking on these topics uncover deeper truths about our connection with our patients? Join them for this discussion and see what is revealed.
