Awesöme Orchestra | Epic Free Classical Concerts
Awesöme Orchestra brings people together for musical adventures. Their free sessions are part performance, part open rehearsal. They provide the sheet music, and anyone is welcome to play or to listen.
The Awesöme Orchestra Collective is the Bay Area’s most adventurous reading orchestra, dedicated to playing excellent orchestral music of all kinds with amazing musicians in a fun, casual environment focused on high musicianship. Their events are always free, but they ask for a pay-what-you-will donation to help cover basic costs.
Awesöme Orchestra will be reading through four short works by Bay Area composers in an all world premiere session. This session promises to be truly awesöme, where they’ll tackle three new orchestral pieces and even excerpts from an upcoming opera.
They’ll be in Studio D with access to their adjoining super-comfy lounge, but due to capacity limitations, audience member must RSVP.
Repertoire, instrumentation, and schedule are as follows, with conductor David Möschler:
- 7:00-7:45pm – Axel Herrera – Orchestral Suite
- 7:45-8:30pm – Les Thaler – three excerpts from “The Devil Loves A Comedy” feat. guest vocal soloists Angela Jarosz, soprano, and Jonathan Smucker, tenor
