Martin De Porres House Foundation, 225 Potrero Avenue, SF
Free, but donations are welcome

Sign up for a volunteer shift. They post a sign up sheet for volunteer shifts on Facebook and via their email list one week prior to events.

Each event takes about 3 hours from food prep to burrito assembly to delivery. They welcome volunteers of all ages and ask that parents are present to supervise their children. Please make sure to register for a volunteer shift before the event, so they know how many people to expect.

Approximate times for volunteer shifts listed below:

  • 4–5 pm: Preparing rice, beans, and salsa (all vegan) – Slicing, dicing, and chopping.
  • 5–5:45 pm: Assembling burritos – Learn from their burrito rolling masters.
  • 5:30–6:30 pm: Delivery – Their dispatchers will send you to a specific location and give you a quick orientation.
  • 6-7 pm: Cleanup – Making and delivering is fun, but they also really appreciate help cleaning up

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet for most of your shift. If you plan to deliver burritos, please bring a bag or backpack that can hold up to 20 burritos. They also feed all of their volunteers, so bring your appetite.
