Event Details

SOMArts Cultural Center gets mobile and takes their art to the 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown with a pop-up exhibition.

The exhibit will include hanging scroll etchings by Seiko Tachibana, origami lessons with Jeremy Shafer of Bay Area Rapid Folders, an interactive “scent piano” designed by Yosh Han, tea-bowl making workshops by ceramicist Kate Stirr and a haiku flashmob led by Silvi Alcivar of The Poetry Store.

  • 11am-5pm: Mobile Arts Platform exhibition featuring hanging scroll etchings by Seiko Tachibana
  • Noon to 1pm: Japanese tea bowl-making workshop

  • 1p to 3p: Origami Performance & Folding Class: advanced Cherry Blossom Flower
  • 4p to 5p: Typewriter Haiku Flash Mob
