2019 Architecture & the City Festival | SF

The 16th annual month-long celebration features behind the scenes and walking tours, films, exhibitions, lectures and more that address varying aspects of the design and planning process.

This years festival theme, “We the City”, aims to explore how cultural diversity and connectivity inspire and inform the built environment. From the Dogpatch to the Outer Sunset — San Francisco is a unique, diverse, and multi-generational mosaic.

“How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster?” traces the life and work of one of the world’s premier architects, Norman Foster. The film provides an intimate portrait of the architect, from his childhood in a working-class Manchester neighborhood to today. Foster’s magnificent projects, including the HSBC Headquarters and the Millau Viaduct, are featured with exquisite photography providing a testimony of the greatness that can be accomplished on a lifetime.
