Queer Expo w/ 50 Vendors at The Loom – Saturday, 6/25 (11a-4p) – Free w/ RSVP

The Queer Expo is hands down the festival event that makes us most happy. Having the opportunity to connect with those who provide products and services curated exclusively for our Black and Brown, LGBTQ+ communities is essential and watching the power of the Black, queer dollar is a whole vibe.

Oakland Black Pride, a nonprofit created to address inequities that exist for people at the critical intersection of blackness and queerness, is pleased to announce its Black Pride Celebration will again take place during Pride Month, June 23–26, 2022. This year’s theme is “Happy Hereafter” and all the events will carry the message of “finding our happiness now and prospecting it in times to come,” an important sentiment to heed in a time of great uncertainty in the world. The four-day series of events, which acknowledges and celebrates Black peoples’ trailblazing contribution to the Gay Rights Movement, offers limited-capacity events at several Oakland businesses and includes a Queer Expo, Pride Party featuring Sterling Victorian and Sunday Brunch with Chef Sarah Kirnon of Miss Ollie’s and Sanctuary. This year’s event will also include a Queer Pub Crawl featuring food and drink specials at select Oakland bars and restaurants.

The Oakland Black Pride festival culminates in a Black Masq “A MasQueerade Ball” grand finale at California Ballroom, which will include a dance showcase of queer and trans performers. Events will be held at various locations throughout the city of Oakland, at BIPOC owned or led venues or organizations.

General admission to most events is free to the public. The decentralized line-up is in adherence with city and state Covid-19 safety protocols.

Attendees can view the full schedule by visiting oaklandblackpride.org.

Note: Last year the festival drew nearly 6,000 participants, and over 50 vendors and community exhibitors, gathering in solidarity to acknowledge and celebrate Black peoples’ trailblazing contribution to the Gay Rights Movement.
