25th Annual “Cars in the Park” in History Park (San Jose)

History San José and the Santa Clara Valley Model T Ford Club invite you to the 25th Annual Cars in the Park at History Park! This outdoor event will take place on Saturday, September 13 from 11am to 4pm. History Park will transform into a showcase of automotive history from the 1890s through 1949, as classic car enthusiasts gather for the largest antique and classic auto show in the West. 

This year, the event will feature speedsters and roadsters through 1931, along with antique bicycles, fire equipment, motorcycles, and more! Visitors can watch a Model-T Put Together in under 15 minutes, learn about local Bay Area racing history from historian Dennis Mattish, and get up close (and even touch!) a Model T “Keystone Coffee” truck, a Signal Oil Truck made by Kleiber Motor Company, and Ford Model A truck (photos of each vehicle attached). Additionally, History San José will be displaying 13 historic vehicles from our collection that are not typically available for public viewing. To complete the living history atmosphere, the Silicon Gulch Dixieland Band and the Tonic Trio Singers will be performing music from the 1920s and 1930s. Food truck fare from Daily Grind and Tacos Los Tres Hermanos. Sweets, including hand-scooped Marianne’s Ice Cream, will be available at the newly re-opened O’Brien’s Candy Shop, which recently returned to HSJ stewardship. 

Cars in the Park offers activities for the whole family, including a model train exhibit, a toy car play track, pedal cars, lawn games, and coloring activities. Families can explore the park’s historic structures while car enthusiasts examine the craftsmanship and engineering of bygone automotive eras.
