Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘circle’. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective
One of the best ways to understand what Mandalas are about is to make your own. Join us at Flux53 for an evening of making Mandalas. Free

Historically, salons were a gathering of intellectual, social, political, and cultural elites under the roof of an inspiring hostess or host, partly to amuse one another, and partly to refine their tastes and increase their knowledge through conversation. One of the most prolific salons was known as the “Blue Stockings Society”, a la circa England, mid-18th century, which hosted everyone from Lady Montagu and Frances Boscawen to Samuel Johnson– philosophical discussions were heavily debated while knitting.
Make Art Monday Salon happens the first Monday of the Month.
